The well known database standard known as SQL was originally researched by Dr. Egard Frank Codd, a methematician from Oxford. Dr. Codd was also the inventor of the relational database during his work at IBM. Dr. Codd wanted a database that could be easily used through english like commands. Honeywell created the first SQL based product in 1976. ANSI took over the SQL standard in 1986. Founder of Oracle Corporation, Larry Ellison released the first standardized SQL product named Oracle in 1979.
